Most animals have abdomens. They come in all shapes and sizes. This collection highlights the best abdomens in amber that we have found.


2) Cricket Abdomen in Amber

Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar

Age: ~98–100 million years 

Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous


This full body cricket clearly displays it's abdomen, giving us a great example of a cricket fossil.



1) Clear adult fly.

Origin: Dominican Republic

Age: ~15–20 million years 

Geologic Period: Miocene


Excellent wing display and veins. Dominican amber. Possibly a male mosquito. All body parts shown well.
