Antlions are a very beautiful species, in all stages in their life. They hunt as larva, and mate as adults. These are the best antlions we have found in amber.

Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)

Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar

Age: ~98–100 million years 

Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous


Antlion with most of it's body hidden in dirt.

This antlion has especially long mandibles, used for hunting.
