Hemiptera is a diverse order of insects recognized by their piercing / sucking mouthparts. Here are some of the best Hemipterans in amber we have found so far.
7) Hemiptera with long probiscus and antennae.
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
The long probiscus on this insect is used for impaling it's prey.
6) Adult hemiptera with clear legs and wings.
Origin: Dominican Republic
Age: ~15–20 million years
Geologic Period: Miocene
