Stingers exist on a multitude of different animals. They come in many shapes and sizes. These are the best stingers we have found in amber.
5) Scorpion with liquid venom in it's tail.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
This scorpion stinger has liquid venom in it's tail. The liquid is below the stinger. Good preservation.
4) Scorpion with hair stinger tail.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
A full scorpion with a clear stinger on it's tail. The hairs are preserved well on the stinger.
3) Wasp with stinger out, but caught in spiderweb.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
A wasp with it's stinger out, trying to escape both spiderwebs and amber. She fought until the end!
2) Scorpion molt with stinger.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
A scorpion molt with a perfectly preserved stinger. There is a bubble of venom in the stinger itself. Very rare.
1) Wasp with stinger extended. Set in a woven bracelet.
Provenance: Dominican Amber, Palo Quemado
Origin: Dominican Republic
Age: ~15–20 million years
Geologic Period: Miocene
This wasp has her stinger fully extended. Excellent preservation and poise.
