Most animals mate, or die trying. In this case, these are the ones who died trying in amber.


1) Mating swarm of diptera flies.

Provenance: Dominican Amber, Palo Quemado

Origin: Dominican Republic

Age: ~15–20 million years 

Geologic Period: Miocene


Male and female of the same species are clearly visible. Flies often mate in swarms like this.
