Scorpions in Amber

Scorpions are among the rarer animals found preserved in amber, due to them being large and solitary. These are the best scorpion specimens we have found over the past 10 years. These pieces highlight scorpion anatomy, excellent preservations, and ancient scorpion lineages.

This scorpion molt shows the classic signs of molting: open in the middle, and translucent.
7) Scorpion with liquid in it's tail.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)

Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
This scorpion fossil has a bubble of liquid in it's tail, below the stinger. Hairs on the stinger are preserved well.
6) Scorpion catching fly in amber.

Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
This scorpion displays clear claws, abdomen, legs and more. It appears to be reaching for a fly. Excellent clarity under the microscope.
5) Scorpion with clear mouthparts (chelicerae).

This piece displays a full body scorpion, including the best mouthparts we have ever found on a scorpion in amber. The chelicerae are very clear. Lots of clear hairs on this specimen as well.
4) Scorpion with great stinger. Full body.

This is a great scorpion displaying a clear tail with hairs on it.
3) Scorpion molt in burmese amber with bubble in it's stinger. The bubble could be venom.

This scorpion molt has a very clear tail, with a bubble preserved in it. This is quite an unusual specimen.
