Parasitism in amber is one of our favorite animal interactions. It is uncommon in amber, but reveals a lot of information about both species when found. These are soe of our favorite examples of parasitism in amber we have found.
2) Beetle with parasitic mite biting the abdomen.
Provenance: Burmese Amber (Myanmar)
Origin: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: ~98–100 million years
Geologic Period: Mid-Cretaceous
Look closely at the small mite attached the the underside of the beetles abdomen.
1) Flying insect with parasite leaving it's host's abdomen.

A worm type parasite leaving the abdomen of a flying creature.
