Now let's get into the best pieces of the month!

Piece #1: Tarantula in amber

This piece takes the cake for the month! Congrats @Ashleycrystalso for snagging this piece for only $75! This piece contains a tarantula, with impeccable cheliceral fangs. Not only are tarantula inclusions exceedingly rare, but this one has Museum-Grade clarity! One could explore this all day. With or without a microscope, because the inclusion is huge.

Piece #2: Praying Mantis

Praying Mantis inclusions are some of the most sought after by collectors. Rare, large, apex predators don't come often in amber. And this one, well it has the best raptorial forelegs we've ever seen. This looks like it should be on the cover of amber magazine. Well, it almost is. Congrats @Joshua W. Duncan on tiktok For getting this piece!

Piece #3: Lizard claw with bones

This piece has BONES, CLAWS, AND SCALED SKIN!! One of the most rare types of fossils that comes out of Burmese amber is lizards. It appears to be the hind leg, hanging onto a stick. Of course, we aren't 100% sure it's a lizard. It could be a dinosaur. But we say lizard to be safe. Not enough of the specimen remains to positively identify the species, but what if?

Piece #4: Antlion #1

The first of 2 antlions this month. Antlions are very rare. They hide in sand and set traps for their prey. It's a wonder they get caught in amber, as they aren't necessarily associated with trees. (Most species caught in amber live amongst the trees. Many ground dwelling species are more rare). This one has quite a nasty pair of jaws, and looks great under the microscope.

Piece #5: Antlion #2

Another antlion, of another species? What a month. Remember that for every insect (like antlion for example) there are over 2,000 different species. So we do see variations in the species we get. It is the hope of all amber searches to find new species, yet undiscovered by science. Our website and our live feed are great places to select pieces to search!

Piece #6: Fire Flower

This is a AAA Specimen of a flower found in Burmese amber specimens called a fire flower. It is similar to a dandelion, with a lot of long tendrils. This piece also happens to be a beautiful red amber, which is much more rare than the typical yellow amber.

Piece #7: Snail

This snail shell is preserved with amazing clarity. The lines, the details, the fibonacci sequence easily visible from both sides. Great piece. Snails often harbored parasites that plagued the dinosaurs, so they are a great candidate for studies.

Piece #8: Scorpion

Look at this guy, he looks like he's still clawing his way out of the amber! In all likelihood he was trying to walk away, but couldn't. This specimen has great clarity under the microscope and aslo has an amazing stinger and claws. Amazing full body specimen.

Piece #10: Pseudoscorpion

This Pseudoscorpion from Myanmar has the poise of a star. The positions the insects get stuck in can have a major difference on the quality of their preservation. This one is ideal, with both claws sticking out clearly. It's like Da Vinci's vitruvian man, but instead, the vitruvian pseudoscorpion?

Piece #11: Moth in dominican amber

Surprisingly, the only dominican amber on the list this month! But look at it! It's a small piece of amber with absolutely stunning clarity. Not a spec out of place on this one. This piece could be explored under the microscope for days. Almost no insect in amber is THIS clear.

Piece #12: Scorpion in Burmese Amber

We have another scorpion on the list, this one also set in an amazing attack position. It looks like a predator ready to strike. The claws on this piece are amazing under the microscope.

Piece #13: Broken leaf

This leaf may be cracked and broken, but to me it's perfect. Perfectly trapped in amber! Amazingly clear and looking like a leaf in fall, this one had enough charm to make our list for this month.

Piece #14: Pseudoscorpion #2

Another pseudoscorpion on the list? Well, it's never a bad time to look at some pseudos in amber!! This one is a different species from the pseudo above. You can see it's claws are much longer. This specimen has other insects in it as well, and great preservation.
